The new year is off and running and it has been crazy around this place.  I have been booked solid since the start of the year and it doesn't look like it's letting up any.  The studio is making some great upgrades that include new microphones and outboard gear.  Among those are mics from Peluse, Crowley and Tripp, EV, and outboard gear from API, Purple Audio, and Chameleon Labs.  I am excited about the increased quality of sound we can offer now and I'm excited about all the new artist we will be working with this year.  God Bless.

It's been a while since I updated the site and let everyone know what is going on.  We finished up Look to the Sky's project and How to Start a Fire's project.  Now we are tracking Dave Levesque, a worship leader from San Angelo, and we are tracking the second project for Tyler Dodds.  I am excited about these projects and have had a blast working with both these artist.
The studio has made a few upgrades worth mentioning as well.  We are now using Professional Mastering Grade AD/DA converters from Lynx, and we just acquired a vintage 1968 Fender Bassman Amp and Cab.  God is blessing use and we look forward to what the future holds.

It's been a while since I posted and a Lot has gone on.

1. I finished Homer Hiccolm and the Rocketboys Project and it should be released in the next few weeks.  It sounds awesome and was a joy to work on.  This band just won the "Sound and Jury" compitetion put on by the Dell Lounge for a spot at ACL fest.  These guys are serious about making great music.  Get their cd as soon as it comes out.
2. I recorded and have almost finished mixing Buck Baskin's project.  Buck is a talented worship leader/songwriter from the Dallas area.  He came in to do a five song EP and it should be released by the end of October.
3. I have pretty much finished up the mixes for How to Start a Fire.  this project should go to mastering real soon so check out their myspace for cd release details.
4. Next week, I start recording a local abilene worship band called "Look to The Sky."  I'm very excited about working with these guys and look forward to helping their ministry in any way I can.
5. My kids are growing up fast and my oldest girl is becoming more and more of a Daddy's girl.  I love life!!!

More people are calling everyday to book studio time so I am excited about the future of The Glass Jar Recording Studio." I hope that the studio can continue to be a blessing to bands and worship leaders, as well as the church that allows me to use space.  University Baptist Church has been incredible to me by allowing me to do what God has called me to do and I can't thank them enough.  If your ever in town and desire a great church to worship at, please stop by.

It has been a while since I updated the news so here we go.  We are working with Homer Hiccolm and the Rocket Boys on a new five-song ep and it sounds awesome.  We have also recorded and are working on the mixes for Ryan Parker.  "How to start a Fire's" ep is coming along nice and should be ready to mix in the next few weeks.  It has been a very busy season and I could not be happier.  These artists have been very refreshing to work with and I've been so encouraged by the quality of music being produced by them.
The song we recorded for Billy and Cindy Foote, "If I Say I Love You," is now avalible on iTunes so go download this tune.  I love playing for Billy and was very honored to be able to record this single.

Man has the last few months been busy. We finished mixing the Marcus Dawes Band's live project, mixed a project for Blake Quimby, finished tracking Amanda Dunn's project, and tracked songs for the new EP from Luminate. I also brought in a new intern that has been a great help. Brandon Kinder is the new intern and will be working in studio B, helping setup and teardown of projects, and doing editing work on most projects coming into the studio. Brandon is the lead singer for Homer Hiccolm and the Rocket Boys and brings a fresh creative mind into the studio.

Happy new year! We are off and running this year and have just finished up the mixes for John Rogers. Next week, I will send this project off to be mastered and you should be able to pick it up by the first of next month. This month, I will also be finishing the Marcus Dawes Band's live project and Amanda Dunn's demo. As those few projects are being finished, I will also be putting some finishing touches on the facility. We just added a nice lounge/sleeping area and I'm doing some painting this week.
Quentin Walker is no longer with us as the engineer for Studio B. He is taking some time this semester to finish up his schooling. I pray the Lord blesses his path. That being said, we are looking for a new intern to come serve here at the Glass Jar.

Last night, we had some of our friend and pastors come to the new studio for a Blessing service. It was an incredible night of prayer and encouragement for Angela and myself. I truly believe that we have reached a new season in the studio's life and I can't wait to see what God is going to do next. Angela and I did not want to start this season without taking time to dedicate this new place to the Lord and ask or friends and family to bless it. I know that one day we will look back on this night and see how the change that was made was a result of a few people seeking the Lord and asking Him to bless this ministry, and the Lord being faithful to do just that.
God Bless you all who have been a blessing to our lives in this process.

I am very close to being finished with the new space. I have been working night and day renovating this new space and it is looking awesome. Sometimes I look at what has been done so far and can't believe how much God has blessed me. The studio has come a long way in the past few years and I'm very excited about what the future holds. I will post some before and after pictures of the remodel in the next week or so.

The Glass Jar Studio is moving!!!! Well, not from UBC in Abilene, but we are moving to a different area in the church. Doug and the elders at UBC have been so good to the studio and are letting us completely renovate a 2000sq/ft section of the church. My current tracking room is about 230sq/ft, and the new tracking room is over 1000sq/ft. I am really excited about this moving and am very confident that this is a moving in the right direction for the studio.I will try to post pictures as the renovations start.
I also have a new intern working for me. Quentin Walker started this month as our new intern and will be working a few hours each day learning about recording and running studio B. I am very excited about having Quentin on board here and look forward to what he can bring to the Glass Jar Studio.

We have just started on David Frush's new album. God has used David to write some amazing songs and I can't wait to see these songs progress.
We will also begin recording a three song demo for the David Ramirez band at the end of this month. This is an incredibly talented band that has a unique sound. I am honored to be a part of this project with these guys.

The Glass Jar has a new intern helping out. Chris Ambriati has joined up with me to help work on various projects, and to learn what goes on in the recording process. He is a Freshman at Hardin-Simmons University from Plano, TX and will be helping out for while with studio A, and running Studio B for the Glass Jar. You can e-mail chris at chrisa@theglassjarstudio.com.
Studio B is up and running so if your band is wanting to record and are on a limited budget, e-mail us and see if we can help you out.

I finished up mixing Micah Mariano's project today and I'm almost finished with The Usual Suspects project. Both projects sound great and are a true representation of each band.

I found out that the song I recorded for Presonus when
I tested one of their interfaces is going to be posted on Musicians Friends website. Musicians Friend is doing a review on some of Presonus' interfaces in the November/December issue of their catalog. In that catalog, they will mention the name of the Band I recorded, and give a link to download a clip of the song. If you go to www.musiciansfriend.com, you can subscribe to their catalog for free.

I finished up the mixes for David Frush's song "Your Mercy Falls" Tuesday and now we are waiting on an OK for mastering.
Embassy wanted us to mix one version for Inspirational radio and one for rock radio so be on the lookout over the next few months for this song on Christian radio.
I am also done with summer camps so I'm back to spending more time in the studio. This month, we are recording The Usual Suspects from Houston, TX and Micah Mariano from San Angelo, TX so check the site for details as the days continue.

One of our own artist
has signed a contract with Embassy Music in Nashville, TN. David Frush was selected as a finalist in both the songwriting and solo artist categories at the Embassy Music Talent contest in Nashville. After the contest finished, the President of Embassy Music approached David about joining their company. David accepted and is now making plans to move to Nashville to start his music career. Within the next few months, David's song "Your Mercy Falls" will be released to radio nationwide. Praise the Lord!!!

The Glass Jar studio and Tyler Dodds will be featured on the Presonus newsletter next month. I had a chance to visit Presonus' headquarters and have lunch with the President, Jim Odom, and the Director of Sales, Rick Naqvi. They were very impressed with Tyler's project and want to feature him and the Glass Jar on the September newsletter. The newsletter goes out to more than 20,000 people every month. It is very encouraging to know that Presonus is happy with how the Glass Jar has been able to use their gear. I believe this is a true honor and a blessing from the Lord.

Tyler's project is finished and in the process of being duplicated. You can listen to three of the songs here on the site. Let Tyler know what you think about it at www.tylerdoods.com.
